Metabolic Panel - What do my results mean?

Below you'll find breakdowns of all of our lab tests and the biomarkers included! These are meant to provide you with more information to make informed decisions and understand what your lab results mean. We cannot diagnose or treat here in the app so if you have any questions or concerns please reach out to your primary care provider for further guidance.

Key Terms

  • Standard Reference Range: This is the general range that most lab tests and PCP's give as within normal or "standards".
  • Optimal Range: This is ideally where we want to be! Remember normal is not optimal.
  • Alarm Range: Please consult with your doctors ASAP if you have results in this range.

So what now? Next Steps!

Based on your results, consider the following:

  • Evaluate with other metabolic markers like insulin, HbA1c

  • Evaluate diet

  • Support gut health and upper digestion to slow glucose absorption

  • Support and optimize liver function

  • Assess stress levels

Physical:

  • Exercise and use resistance training regularly to improve cortisol/stress levels, insulin sensitivity, and lower glucose levels by increasing uptake into muscle.

  • Plan your meals ahead to support balanced blood sugar levels.

  • Sit, relax, and eat balanced meals. Don’t snack or munch throughout the day. Relaxing while eating allows your body to rest & digest. Eating stressed doesn’t allow your body to digest properly.

  • Chew your food thoroughly as it stimulates gastric function and prepares for food.

Nutritional: (All of the below is done in the Slim Down!)

  • Eat a healthy plant rich nutrient-dense diet with very little processed sugars.

  • Eliminate processed/inflammatory foods, especially high carbohydrate diets and refined grains as they can cause an increase in blood sugar levels.

  • Eliminate sugar-free/fat-free foods. Consume good healthy fats.

  • Support liver function with foods like leafy greens, cruciferous vegetables, Brussel sprouts, broccoli, and sulfur-containing foods

  • Eat balanced meals high in vegetable fiber, antioxidants, and phytonutrients.

Mental/Emotional:

  • Reduce stress through relaxing activities.  Think taking a walk, reading a book, a bubble bath, your Ab Rehab moves and breathing.

Supplemental: (Access supplements HERE!)

  • Support liver function with herbs like Milk Thistle to optimize glycogen storage and synthesis in the liver.

  • Adaptogenic herbs to support healthy stress response

  • Digestive support where needed: Acid support, bitters, probiotics, enzymes, bile support, etc.

  • Support with herbs or nutrients needed for optimal blood glucose management such as trace minerals, B vitamins, zinc, chromium, etc.

So what now? Next Steps!

Based on your results, consider the following:

  • Evaluate with other metabolic markers like glucose, HbA1c

  • Support and optimize liver function

  • Support gut health and upper digestion to slow glucose absorption

Nutritional: (All of the below is done in the Slim Down!)

  • Eat a healthy nutrient-dense diet with very little processed sugars. Eliminate processed/inflammatory foods, especially high carbohydrate diets and refined grains as they can cause an increase in blood sugar levels which will increase insulin production.

  • Eliminate sugar-free/fat-free foods. Consume good healthy fats.

  • Support liver function with foods like leafy greens, cruciferous vegetables, beets, and beet greens.

  • Eat balanced meals that are high in vegetable fiber, antioxidants, and phytonutrients.

  • Digestive support where needed: Probiotics, enzymes, bitters, etc.

So what now? Next Steps!

Based on your results, consider the following:

  • See Glucose results!
  • If elevated and glucose seems normal, it is possible that it is related to a nutritional deficiency or look into the lifespan of the RBCs being around longer.

So what now? Next Steps!

Based on your results, consider the following:

  • Assess for the cause, with blood sugar dysregulations and stress being the main culprits

  • Evaluate diet

  • Support and optimize liver and biliary function

  • Assess stress levels

  • Evaluate for underlying thyroid dysfunction

  • Investigate possible sources of inflammation or infection. Evaluate other inflammatory markers (homocysteine, ferritin, glucose, hsCRP)

  • Consider Lipoprotein testing if levels are elevated or you have a family history of cardiovascular issues

Physical:

  • Exercise and use resistance training regularly to reduce cholesterol levels by improving cortisol/stress levels, insulin sensitivity, and lower glucose levels by increasing uptake into muscle

Nutritional: (All of the below is done in the Slim Down!)

  • Eat a healthy plant rich nutrient-dense diet with very little processed sugars.

  • Eliminate processed/inflammatory foods, especially high carbohydrate diets and refined grains

  • Consume good healthy fats in your diet

  • Support liver & biliary function with foods like leafy greens, cruciferous vegetables, Brussel sprouts, broccoli, sulfur-containing foods, beets, & beet greens

Mental/Emotional:

  • Reduce stress through relaxing activities. Think taking a walk, reading a book, a bubble bath, your Ab Rehab moves and breathing.

Supplemental: (Access supplements HERE!)

  • Support liver function with herbs like Milk Thistle

  • Support biliary/gallbladder with herbs like artichoke, beets, dandelion root, etc

  • Adaptogenic herbs to support healthy stress response

  • Specific supplements to balance cholesterol levels, such as plant sterols, black cumin seed, berberine, etc.

So what now? Next Steps!

Based on your results, consider the following:

  • Evaluate diet. Assess for blood sugar dysregulation, low-fat diets, or severe caloric restriction

  • Support and optimize liver and biliary function

  • Assess any of the above factors: stress, hypothyroid dysfunction, gut issues, etc

  • Consider Lipoprotein testing if levels are elevated or you have a family history of cardiovascular issues

  • Assess lifestyle factors that could be contributing. If taking a medication known to affect levels, talk with your primary care provider to evaluate the benefit/need of the medication

Physical:

  • Exercise and use resistance training regularly to reduce cholesterol levels and improve HDL, cortisol/stress levels, insulin sensitivity, and lower glucose levels by increasing uptake into muscle

Nutritional: (All of the below is done in the Slim Down!)

  • Eat a healthy plant rich nutrient-dense diet with very little processed sugars.

  • Eliminate processed/inflammatory foods, especially high carbohydrate diets and refined grains

  • Support liver function with herbs like Milk Thistle

  • Support biliary/gallbladder with herbs like artichoke, beets, dandelion root, etc

  • Adaptogenic herbs to support healthy stress response

  • Specific supplements to balance cholesterol levels, support thyroid, gut, or other areas of need

So what now? Next Steps!

Based on your results, consider the following:

  • Assess for the main cause, with poor diet, blood sugar/insulin resistance, hormone intake, and thyroid insufficiency being the main culprits

  • Evaluate diet.

  • Assess for sources of inflammation, as it will cause the liver to produce more sterols (chole-sterol) needed for the inflamed and damaged areas.

  • Support and optimize liver and biliary function

  • Assess stress levels as this can affect thyroid hormone conversion

  • Investigate for thyroid dysfunction

  • Consider Lipoprotein testing if levels are elevated or you have a family history of cardiovascular issues

Physical:

  • Exercise and use resistance training regularly to reduce cholesterol levels by improving cortisol/stress levels, insulin sensitivity, and lower glucose levels by increasing uptake into muscle.
